Play Your Cards Right theme song! (2.77 MB, 2:25)
Main Game
Card Sharks ain't just in America! It was in
Great Britain, and was called "Play Your Cards Right." It was hosted
by none other then the British game show dean himself, Bruce Forsyth.
It was played VERY similarly to the American versions. Instead of two
single players though, two married couples played. Like in the
American,
four "Hi-Lo" toss up questions were played. The winner of each
question played the cards. The object is the same, predict whether
the next card is
higher or lower than the one that proceeds
it.
As Bruce says on the show "Nothing for a pair..NOT IN THIS GAME!"
Winner of each game wins a "Brucie Bonus" which is read by the
players from an envelope after the game.
Winner of best two out of three games wins the match and goes to the
"Cash Cards."
Cash Cards
The "Cash Cards" differ slightly from the
Money Cards on the American version. The couple starts with
£200. Bruce then asks a general knowledge question worth
£50. Like on the American version, where the minimum bet is $50,
the
minimum bet here is £50. The couple may change
their base card
on
each level. When they move up to the second level, the couple gets
another £200. The big difference here is this: If a couple has
£4,000 or more after the first two levels, the top level is
played for a brand new car!
First, Bruce asks another general knowledge question. If they
answer correctly, they get the chance to play. They may
then elect to play or change the card on the top. If they guess it
correctly, they win the car!
