Jim Peck!
Information
Year: 1976
Network: ABC
Host: Jim Peck
Announcer: Bob Clayton
Origination: ABC, New York
Packager: Bob Stewart Productions
Gameplay
Two contestants try to
"catch" five celebrities "in the act." A category is started
(Ex: It happens when a girl...") and then shown to the
celebrities (not the players) (..."Get's Married"). Starting from the
bottom row and continuing on, each celebrity gives a clue (usually a comical)
about the subject. When one of the players knows it, they buzz in, and if
correct,
"captures"
that celebrity
(the last one to give a clue). After this, another category is
shown
in the same way, and play continues with the next celebrity. If a celebrity is
captured again, by the other player, that celebrity goes over to the opponents
side.
First player to capture three different celebrities wins the game.
Bonus Game
The
three "caught" celebrities and the winner play the bonus game.
In
60 seconds, the person in the first position asks the person next to them yes or
no questions to try and get figure out what their "secret" (inside of
a wallet). Each "secret" links to the next
.
The second person in line does the same, and the object is to get all the way
down
the
line. $250 is paid out for each correct answer, $1000 is won for winning in more
then 30 seconds, $5000 for less then 30 seconds.
My Review
Not a bad game. Jim Peck does well with celebrities (something he never really dealt with). The set and music are pretty much typical Bob Stewart things. The game itself is done rather well. The first part is pretty much a comical version of the Pyramid Winner's Circle. The second part is kind of Pyramid meets Chain Reaction. Should've sold, but they should've changed the complicated payout of the bonus round.
