Main Game

Go! was a word association game...with a slight twist, from the legendary Bob Stewart.

Each team consisted of 4 civilians and 1 "celebrity captain." The celebrity of the "challengers" had the choice to either play first or pass. Whoever played first went downstage, where a table was located. There were four chairs in the front, and three in back. Whoever played first also chose a packet of answers. These answers would appear one at a time on a secret monitor, that only the front players would see. The players in the front four seats were the "givers" and the player in the back was the "reciever."The players in the first two seats would formulate a question, by adding one word at a time, then hitting a bell to end the question. If the player, sitting in the back, got the correct answer, they would jump to the second seat in the back (along with host O'Connell's accompanying yelling of "GO!"), where the player sitting in chair #2 and #3 would create a question. This goes on until five correct answers are given (going down the line both times). A player had to stay in a chair if they give a wrong answer, pass, or if the "givers" give an illegal question (by giving two words or by conveying the answer in it). The first team to play created the time that the second team has to beat. When the first team played, the clock counted up, when the second team played, the clock counted down from the time the first team did. In each round, the teams switched going first and second. Round 1 was worth 250 points, round 2 500, round 3 750, and round 4 was worth 1250 points. The first team to 1500 points won the game and went to the bonus game. If a team swept the first three rounds, they team got a chance to play the bonus game twice, for a "Double Jackpot." The winning teams points also get converted to dollars.

Bonus Round

In the bonus round, the object was to get 7 correct answers in 60 seconds. This time, the reciever faced away from the team. The first question was formulated, still one word at a time, by the the other four team members. After one correct answer, three of them created. After two, two of them created it. After the third, only the celebrity created the question. Then the process reversed, back to two, to three, and then to four on the last one. $200 was awarded for each correct answer, getting all 7 wins $10,000. As said before, winning the first three rounds on the main game gives them a chance to play the bonus game twice, trying for a $20,000 top prize.

Originally, the winners from the previous day would return to the next show as returning champions. Later this was changed, and two teams played against each other for the whole week.
