Rules

At the beginning of each game, a three number dollar amount which is a multiple are multiples of 5 is selected as the "target number." After that is selected, a multiplier selects a number between 5 and 50, and that makes the Super Jackpot, which means that if the Jackpot were to match the last three numbers of the target number at any time, then they'd have a shot at the Super Jackpot riddle. Example: Target number is $650, multiplier is 30, the Super Jackpot is worth $19,500. So at any time, if the last three numbers of the Jackpot are 650, then the expert and the person they selected will have a shot at the Super Jackpot.

The Jackpot is built by having the expert picking people which have riddles by picking numbers from 1-15. Each riddle is worth a different amount of money. One player has the Jackpot riddle and if they select that person they yell out "Jackpot!". The expert can choose to answer the riddle right there, or they can choose to have them sit down and try to build it up. If they are stumped at any time throughout the game then they switch places with the person who asked the riddle, and that person becomes the expert. If they  ask the riddle and expert gets it right, the two split the Jackpot.

On the only episode in the trading circuit, two people split a $38,750 Super Jackpot. The riddle answered was:

"He's a carpenter, and I'm a shepard. But, we are both in the same line of work, what's our line?" Answer: "Astronaut"

Facts

-Jackpot! has been revived many times. In 1984 a CBS pilot was produced with Nipsey Russell as host which had a different scoring system and a bonus game ("Riddle-grams"). In 1985 a canadian version was produced and aired on the USA cable network until 1988 with Mike Darrow as host. In 1989 it was revived with Geoff as host again in syndication, but was canceled because the syndication company went bankrupt.

-Geoff Edwards debut as host came in 1973 on CBS' "Hollywood's Talking." He'd also go on to host "Treasure Hunt," "Play the Percentages," "Chain Reaction" and many others.

-All episodes of the original Jackpot! have been said to be destroyed except two, unfortunately.
