Here are the six players for today's show. One of them will walk away with up to $75,000. The rest will leave with nothing, as round by round they are voted off as the Weakest Link
George: Welcome to the...

Any of the six players in the studio today could win up to $75,000. They don't know each other, however, if they want to win the money, they'll have to work as a team. Five of them will leave with nothing, as round by round we eliminate the player voted, the Weakest Link.
Broadcast History

Airdates: January 7, 2002-August 2003, Syndicated
Origination: NBC Studios, Burbank
Packager: The Gurin Company, in association with BBC. Distributed by NBC Enterprises.
Main Game
The Weakest Link launched a 5
day a week syndication in January 2002, featuring a new host, a half hour
format,
and quicker game play.
The game was pretty much the same as the network version. Six players this time competed. The chain looked like this:
$250-$500-$1,000-$2,500-$5,000-$12,500
Along with less players, and a
smaller chain, the time for each round was shrunken also. In round 1, 1:45 was
put on
the clock, and :15 came off for each round. Unlike the network version,
which never saw a
team climb the chain, the chain has actually been climbed
frequently on the syndicated version. The game itself was
pretty much the same,
with players being voted off after every round.
The Strongest Link
would
cast a
deciding vote in case of a tie. Like
Anne Robinson before him,
George Gray
continues to chastise the
players. However, George coats his with more sarcastic
humor than
Anne did.
Final Round
When two players are left, the
two play one more round for double the money banked. The two
players than
compete in a best of 3 question "shootout." The Strongest Link from
the last round decides to go first or last. The player who answers the most
questions
correctly wins the money
banked.
One rule change was made for
the 2002-2003 season. Now, the top value on the chain is $25,000, rather than
$12,500. Also, the "double" round has been eliminated, meaning the top
prize was now $100,000.
George's Catchphrases
"Which of you was home schooled....in an out house?"
"In this group of comic book heroes...who here is LOSER-Man?"
"Who's brain waves are waving BYE BYE?"
"Who is the loose lid on this salt shaker?"
"Who's still waiting for some British lady to ask the questions?"
End of the show: "Join us next time on, the Weakest Link. <smiles> G'bye!"

Facts
-Before Weakest Link, George Gray may have been considered the most hated host of a game show ever. He hosted the Game Show Network original "Extreme Gong." On it, he insulted the entire game show community, by calling the newsgroup alt.tv.game-shows "losers." George later said that "Gong" was one of the worst shows he ever did, and has made amends with most of the game show fans with Link.
